FAQs
Do players have to register with their designated softball club?
If a player wishes to register with a club other than their designated club, the Club President must complete the proper Release and Transfer Request form available under the Forms button. Requests are considered based on the criteria described in the Calgary Minor Softball Handbook available under the information button. Players are not eligible to register at their preferred Association without club approval.
How do I register?
Every Community Club in Calgary has a designated Calgary Minor Softball district. If you do not know which one you belong to, please refer to the club boundary list, found under the Districts – Where Do I Register button. The list contains the names of all districts, along with the community clubs designated to it.
What size ball does my category use?
U10 Mites and U12 Squirts use an 11" core 47 optic ball
U14 Peewee, U16 Bantam and U19 Midget uses a 12" core 47 optic ball
When does a team require a travel permit?
A team requires a travel permit to participate in any exhibition or tournament game outside Alberta. A permit may be obtained by contacting Softball Alberta at www.softballalberta.ca
Do players have to register within the proper age category?
Calgary Minor Softball permits over-age players but only under very specific conditions. The requesting club must fill out the Over-Age Application and submit it to Calgary Minor Softball. When processing an over-age application there are several prerequisites. “Limited skill” describes a noticeable lack of basic softball skills. This also includes limited aptitude for the game in the Pee Wee and higher divisions. “Written verification” refers to a letter from their association or coach confirming the lack of skill and ability to play in the proper age division, including an evaluation report where available. On average, Calgary Minor Softball approves one (1) or two (2) over-age players every season, generally for health-related reasons.
